Stephen Colbert Elects Cardi B To Deliver State Of The Union Rebuttal
Cardi B has become involved in some political spats lately. Whether she wants to or not, she would have no issue engaging with conservative pundits on social media, issuing her thoughts on the United States government through the perspective of the average American, a quality that she rightfully refuses to shed.
Recently, Stephen Colbert took note of Cardi’s capability to hold her own in the political arena and suggested that she be allowed to deliver on the Democrats’ rebuttal to Donald Trump’s State of The Union address.
“I am starting a petition for the Democrats to let @iamcardib give the rebuttal to the SOTU. Sign it by retweeting this!, ” the late-night show host penned.

Naturally, Cardi couldn’t refuse such an offer, responding to Colbert’s prompt: “Why not …I get straight to the point. Government shutdown over.”
Right now, there’s no information showing when Cardi will be given the opportunity to offer her rebuttal, especially considering the fact that a date for President Trump’s speech has not been determined to start with. While Trump was originally scheduled to deliver his speech before Congress on Tuesday, it was put off as a result of the government shutdown. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi revoked Trump’s invitation to appear due to the shutdown’s impact on unpaid security details.
“What I’d said to the president is when the government is open, we will discuss a mutually agreeable date, and I’ll look forward to doing that and welcoming the president to the House of Representatives for the State of the Union when we agree on that mutually agreeable date, ” Pelosi said.
