Cardi B Announces Her New Album This Year, “Invasion of Privacy”

On Friday evening, Cardi B went the red carpet for the 2019 Spark Party in West Hollywood. putting on colorful hair and showing her horizontal lip piercing. Variety correspondent Marc Malkin was able to chat with the Cadi for a few minutes before she made her way inside. Cardi disclosed that she wants to release a new album this year, but following up the success of “Invasion of Privacy” has put a little bit of pressure on her.


“I’m not sure [when new music will come], I just know that I’m starting to prepare myself now because I’m really trying to put out [an] album for this year, but my last album, “Invasion of Privacy”, it just went three times platinum, so now it’s just like, aw snap. It’s big pressure on me,” she said. “It’s like aw snap, what the hell am I going to come up with?”

She wasn’t giving up a lot of details on her upcoming project if any, on who she wants to work with|use} on her sophomore effort. “I don’t know,” she said. “But you want to know something? There’s two boys that I met with, well two guys, two men, they’re not big artists. They’re actually…they aren’t really well-known, but they’re amazing artists and I really want to put them on my album.” Malkin tried to get Cardi to spill the tea, but she just said that she’s “not allowed” to tell just yet. “Y’all will find out in October who they are,” she said. “I’m not saying the new album is out in October, but you will see why.”

Earlier to the event, Cardi gave followers an up close and personal look at her custom “Kulture” earrings as she shared a video clip on Instagram of her rapping her “Clout” lyrics from Offset’s Father of 4 album.

Cadi also talked about her upcoming feature film debut, “Hustlers, ” by which she stars opposite Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Julia Stiles. The story follows a group of strippers as they fraud their Wall Street clientele out of thousands of dollars.

“I might teach her a little somethin’,” Cardi, a former exotic dancer herself, said of pairing up with J.Lo.

“I’m excited,” Cardi said about the STX project, which she shoots next month. “I love the story. It still happens in the strip club community and I cannot wait to act.”

Before heading to the party, she also gave a shoutout to K-Pop sensation BTS, who were found dancing to her Grammy performance earlier this year.

Would she collaborate with the Korean pop group?

“Sure, I like them. They’re so adorable.”
